Yes, Still Saturday and I'm getting an early start on the events of next week while my wife catches up on her SMS and Papal News.

Update: Saturday, 02-Apr-2005 3:21 PM via the Canary Islands. Day 1!

On another note, this blog is now being typed on my laptop and it's set to Eastern Standard Time in the USA. So, while I am on vacation in the UK or GMT time, my updates are getting stamped in E. S. T. in the good 'ol US of A.

Ok, that off my shoulders, my discussion will now turn to what I felt was a great omission on my part. On the first page of this site, I updated it with the below text:

This site is full of resources, how to files, articles, knowledge, case studies, etc. to start, build your progress and maintain your success. Regardless of where you are and the circumstances you live in.

Importantly, not only is the 'how to' aspect of the process discussed, there is also an on-going example as the author builds his own 31-STEP Financial Success Plan after imposing strict rules and severe limitations.

The culmination of the effort is not only the goal of reaching the 31ST STEP in the Financial Success Plan, but also to build a well managed, well balanced, sustainable lifestyle and share the entire 31-STEP process with frequent readers and casual visitors. CARPE DIEM! W.S.

Above is the original text that I used. Even though the text I ended up with differs a bit, I managed to leave a major portion of the main thrust of my entire objective with this project out: And that is "PERSONAL SUCCESS".

I titled the entire project with the first paragraph saying that "it is a site to help build business and personal success" and by doing that I left out perhaps the most important part of this site and project -the idea that PERSONAL SUCCESS and the basic tenants of personal success have to be built before business success and financial success can be even contemplated.

So, why do I say that personal success is so important? Well, because you and I most likely grew up, were educated and then went about our lives but never really took time to learn about the processes, ideals and the finer points in life that are needed to build a personal success.

Have I lost you here? I think I have...

Let me back track and talk about some of the things I find are appalling:

1. American's (fellow North Americans, I mean here) on any given year will spend more money on the lottery than on books and education.

2. More time is spent by a fellow American on their next vacation than on financial planning for their retirement.

3. After more than 3 or 4 decades of work, most Americans retire on less than $2,500 in savings.

4. By far American spend the most money on "self improvement" books, courses and other materials. Yet, only 10% of American belong to this group. Has the other 90% attained a level of comfort -personally and professionally to setup aside such advise? Now, consider this -only about 10% of the seekers of such mind and body changing information and revelation actually use it. Thus, in the end 1 out of 100 end up using the important information that could change their life and well being.

I actually hope that I am wrong on the third one, but I recall reading this somewhere, sometime.

Now, back to why I feel so urgently that personal success needs to precede the business and financial success.

The idea here is that I need to evaluate some of the basic practices that I undergo on a daily basis that I need to make sure I have engrained as a basic part of my life, that builds my personal success.

These matters are not my business success or financial success.

I think a lot of people will say "when I succeed in my business" or they may say "when I succeed in my financial success", I will do 'x', 'y' or 'z' that will really highlight my personal success.

What I am trying to say in the daily update is that it is vital to be a personal success before embarking on the business and financial success.

Having said what I have, I hope that you'll understand where I am going with this.

Once again, let me reiterate a few more points about what I hope to accomplish in saying this. What I hope to point out is that personal success has very much to do with FEAR and GREED.

Lot of the fear that you will experience is a direct result of your parents life and what they did during their life. AND what you must change in your own life to over come some of the problems created your parents.

The other vice that you'll need to overcome is greed. Yes, the guy starting out with a penny and building it to over $10M will tell you looking straight in the eye that he does not have one bone in the body that vibrates with the overwhelming need to think, eat and breathe everything money from the time I wake up to the time I sleep.

Instead, what I do is do what I enjoy the most --educate myself daily to build the two primary projects in my life. I enjoy the time I spend working on then. I enjoy the challenges that they bring. While in the past each of the projects brought about many failures, lately, they have brought more and more successes.

When I being talking about personal success there is a sea of items that I can discuss. They are all about learning, practicing, concurring and trumping over the natural, environmental and social issues that we must overcome to declare ONE SELF a personal success.

In the end, you may be in the same shoes that I am standing on: I feel that personal success or what I call excellence is a non-attainable. It's a bit like the Zeno's Paradox, where you and the distance to an object you are trying to reach is always ONE HALF the distance, thus you'll never get there.

Me and my personal success is also a bit like being a Buddhist --everyone has the capacity to become a Buddhist, but everyone can try their hardest and never be able to become a Buddhist.

Often with personal success I feel that I am in the midst of this quandary. Then I remember the old phrase that I have repeated often: Life is a journey and not a destination! That is what eventually saves my conversation within. That is the savior of my inner turbulence.

Each day I sometimes feel that I have not made the progress that I want. Then I realize that just looking back a year, I have made great progress. Last year this time, I had reserved the domain p31.com for about 4 years, with the basic knowledge that I had an event --where a penny times 31 leads to $10M. Other than that I had no idea of really what I had in hand.

A mere three months later in the midst of my latest and most complicated move, in the midst of a new house purchase, in the midst of a lot of business failures (one of them being a major financing failure) I thought about a blog where I'd take a penny found on Super bowl Sunday on 2002 and double that 30 more times.

Once again, all I have to do is look back a bit and I can see great progress being made... Now I'll think about tomorrows progress. More on these thoughts.
