DAY #179 -- Launch: T-30 Days!
UPDATE: Saturday, 03-Dec-2005 1:27 PM
I am at the end of a work marathon where I updated nearly all the files in the membership area of the Maxsimo Network.
The problem was that the navigation was a bit of a mess. There were too many options and way too many things for Members to ponder. The end result is that a member would get lost and frustrated.
I want to keep a clean look, that empowers the user to keep using the tools at their disposal to "build their business success".
So, after about a day's work, I managed to give it a clean look. Now to some other items need to cleared on the server and then every brought online before the Eastern Coast of North America wakes up. Unfortunately, there may be a lot of New Zealanders and Australians thinking "what happened" at this moment.
What is happening is the during pre-launch I am making sure that all things work fine. It's better to do that with 300 people utilizing the network, than when 3,000 or 30,000 or even 300,000 people are using the system for their benefit.
I am sure some people are a bit nervous. I'll send out an email advising of the just completed updates and I am sure that everyone will understand and appreciate the work that has gone into making all of this part of a great network that everyone can benefit from.
Ok, I've got a very busy weekend, and one more item on my TO DO list from the week to complete. I'll have to get to that now.
In the mean time, below is a note that I wrote for the GOLD Members and posted in their area. I wrote the below notes to our GOLD Members, who have trusted me to deliver what they are seeking to help them succeed in their business venture.
1 DECEMBER 2005
Oh, the marvelous times we live in… Once upon a time it took forever to get things done –If you requested information about a company, you called an 800# (toll free for International Readers) and then waited a few days or weeks to get the info in the mail.
Have things changed! Now within seconds you know. We’re just a step away from an implanted chip that updates in the AM, as the coffee pot turns on. Scary? I’ll stop.
No matter how things change, the secrets to success remain the same. I know. I have failed –and often. Luckily, I also happen to live in the Great State of Ohio, once home to the Wrights and Edison –two giants who also failed often, especially when they got started. Living and learning as I did, I could “bounce back” each time. And I did.
But, can problems like failure be avoided? You bet. Yes they can. That is what your Membership is about. I could have said “Pay up to get more info” but I decided against it, as I don’t want a Member paying GOLD fees to feel left out on information that a PARAGON Member has. The difference in Membership is in ACCESS to APPLICATIONS. What you need to know is available to everyone.
Now to share something special with you: My blog! Commentary that is deemed “non-technical” or not FOCUSED enough for Members will be posted in my personal site.
Here I am: http://www.p31.com (don’t click here, yet! See end note)
Revenue*CHECK will present a focused info to make you money. That is why you are in business. The Maxsimo Network is there to provide a network of tools, applications and services that enable you to build a business –any business, anywhere.
Now back to my earlier thought –The environment changes daily, but the path to success does not, and consist of a spark (start), a desire, determination, excellence (reaching for it) and perseverance. The bad news is that it does not happen overnight. The good news is that it can be done and *is* done all the time.
What is the Maxsimo Network? We are your partner in success. How will you do that? By sharing with you the knowledge and applications to build your success. Why are you sure of it? Because “we” can.
Carpe Diem,
Webmaster*SAM.
Founder/Developer.
PS: In my success I have found that the very little things were what held me back in my 20’s. Luckily, I found out in my early 30’s what they were. Dear Member, everything in life counts. Everything. And when you proceed that way, success is *yours*.
PPS: I am not trying to remain anonymous. In fact, I hope to meet you in person one day. Because that is the way I do things and we have a lot to do. You will see video TUTORIALS SOON, done by me. However, at this time I have a cold and didn’t make one. {B>)
PPPS: End Note: Don’t click here Yet! I said this because of this reason: We have everything we need to know at our finger tips. But is that what you want to do? In my discussions with you, let me share a secret to success, and one that I was VERY POOR at when I started working on the Internet: FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS – When I write, email is “OFF”, iTunes® is “OFF”, office “Closed”. IF you clicked on that link suddenly you lost focus and drifted away. Your focus needs to remain at the task at hand –TO BUILD YOUR SUCCESS STORY! Let’s get started…
-------------------END of ITEM.
It's a bit of a summary from the long list of lessons that I have learned while at the BLOG for nearly 200 days now. Many parts of the discussion I am having on the blog have lasted over 15 years, but I have only put things on paper since last year. Now it's all coming together and that is the fun part of the exercise.
Ok, once again, a very busy weekend. Hope you're well. Sam out.
UPDATE: Saturday, 03-Dec-2005 4:19 PM
Well, I thought with new management software and a new programming team behind it, trouble will be at bay. Nope. It seems that GOOD 'ol MURPHY is alive and well, and had stuck last night. Our server is down and is being "worked on" as I write.
If there is one business rule that I can put up on the wall, that is sure to strike, at the worst possible moment, that is OLD MURPHY.
It is a given fact of business that at the worst possible moment MURPHYS LAW will hit, and make one a bit doubt everything that one has strived for.
Well, such is life. The plan has to be to GET BACK TWICE as HARD once things get going again. Perhaps, this is a blessing in disguise. There are a hand full of IR's at this time. Still, that is a handful that I will have to write to and explain the situation. However, as popular as the Maxsimo Network is, there could be 10,000 IR's by this time in February.
Anyway, I'll go now, and update tomorrow. Sam out.
UPDATE: Saturday, 03-Dec-2005 7:21 PM
I put up this message at http://www.maxsimo.com to inform all of our users that we are NOT out of business, but that there has been a technical glitch.
---------------
URGENT NOTE:
At this time, MAXSiMO.NET is down due to a server problem.
Technicians are working on the matter and services
will return to normal very shortly. Maxsimo Network Team. 10:AM EST, SAT. 3 Dec. 2005
Bit by Bit, operations are coming back. However, still our main site is down. 1:PM EST, SAT. 3 DEC. 2005
-------------------------
So far I have not head back from the programmers, and when I did get a hold of one of the guys, it was at his home and he didn't like it.
What am I suppose to do?
Often programmer have this attitude that whatever they want to do and whatever time frame is fine. Sorry, that is not the way things work. At this time I have had 2 hours of sleep in 48 hours, and I wanted to make a plan for the next 12 hours. I wanted to know how long it will take to resolve the issue. Will it take 4 hours, 8 hours or more? I simply wanted to know a time frame so that I could get some sleep and then when the system was back up, I was going to 'fire off' and email to everyone that servers went down. NOT our business model.
Of course, at this time I have lost some credibility and time, but that is the norm in this type of operation. I have done my best to make sure there are back ups and such, but overall I am at the mercy of the software developers.
Their "agreement" says in effect that they are not responsible for such situations. However, I beg to differ. Suppose they provided the software to an Airplane manufacture and then said "well we are not responsible that the autopilot dove the plane into the sea" --I don't think that would fly.
Our work is nor different. Someone needs to be held accountable. Someone needs to be held responsible. It is no joke that people from Australia or New Zealand to the California coast are looking to work with us to resolve a few problems that they have. I don't want to be in the position to say that "we mucked up our responsibilities -to anyone". I want to make 100% sure that the situation is resolved.
Anyway, as you open your store, your dream, your idea or your "MY Favorite Thing in this World" site, these are the problems that you will be faced with.
They are part of life. And I have to now walk a fine line, and "kiss programmer 'ass' and be friendly and all that" so that I don't trample any ego --yet get the situation resolved to the best possible conclusion.
I have to.
What's interesting is that one of the first questions that I asked when we got started was the issue of BACK UPS. I asked this over and over, and I made sure that answer got back to me via email. The advice was that the server could 'back it self' up and then I had to save the file. Interestingly enough, I did that very thing about 8 hours before the server went down.
Spooky --Call it my 6th Sense. I believe in it.
UPDATE: Saturday, 03-Dec-2005 7:39 PM
Site is live again. What an eternity that was! Perhaps, the only cheerful moment I had today was when my oldest son and I fell a sleep on the couch watching Cinderella. I was so tired of the situation I dosed off. I just want to end the thought or discussion with a smile. A happy thought. I am... We're back. Sam out.
