DAY #182 -- Launch: T-27 Days!
UPDATE: Tuesday, 06-Dec-2005 8:44 AM
Another day gets started! I am here once again to "warm my fingers" (and mind) to another special day. The AD*Watcher installation is progressing and should be done by tomorrow and at the latest on Thursday.
The testing and final adjustments for the affiliate*MINT setup is also going along nicely. I hope to introduce the AD*Watcher program this week and then Affiliate*MINT, hopefully before Christmas.
There were two main items on my mind this am as I get started. The first is a conundrum, as Greenspan would say it and the second is a move to make my time more efficient while I improve things.
Well, to the conundrum. Often I say the network marketing slogans say "Gain Independence" or "financial independence" or etc, etc. You've seen these. There all over the place.
The question is this: What do I say to the Staff at the company, when all their work is leading to "independence" for the representatives?
Well, I could walk a fine line and do a "song and dance" every month and hide this under the lunch counter, but I wont. He's my plan and it's a bit of a self serving one: My plan is to make sure that staff at the office, and around the world assisting in the growth of the company to have 3 weeks of company holidays --I see the week of Thanksgiving and between Christmas and New Years as two such periods. Then I'll pick another week between Jan. and July and do the same. This gives everyone plenty of time to enjoy life and the very busy periods of time during the year. Of course, in addition to that there will be 2 to 3 weeks of personal leave.
All this is good --good intentions. But to accomplish all of this I'll need to make sure that cash flow is there. Cash flow, to any business is "GOD" and I have to do everything to make sure that it keep going on an UP TREND!
I think that thought I don't need to write down. It will be talked about and IF I don't mention it I am sure someone will point out "Sam, remember on day 182 you mentioned." I can hear the meeting already.
Now on to my personal ideas: It seems that I am writing a lot. If someone had told me a year ago that I'd be writing upwards of 2 to 5 pages a day and a few days out of the month, even more than that, I would have said "yeah right". But it's happening. And I am enjoying it 100%.
I cannot remember if I mentioned this, but last Saturday AM, I had sat on my home office chair for 3 to 4 hours straight and not gotten up. I cannot even remember sitting in an airplane for that long without moving. But, I was so focused at that time I had no idea that I had not moved. I was fixed to what I was doing and I think a wall had to blow down on me to break my concentration.
Anyway, the reason that I brought up my writing is because I have no sure fire way to "recall" or improve what I have written. I think all the papers, ideas and diagrams need to be updated, eventually.
And to do that I am going to setup a format like this: [Tdoc#]dd/mm/year, where t = target audience, be it internally to different departments or to IR's or Members or even to "self" as in me. By marking the documents it will be much easier to archive, retrieve and edit the documents in a timely manner.
That reminds me of anther project at home --my tool closet. I got very annoyed a few months back when I spent about an hour looking for a tool and when the work done with that tool was about 10 min. What a waste of time. Plus, I just got mentally exhausted looking for the 'bloody thing'. So, I decided to put a set of cabinets to put away all the tools and that should solve the problem of looking for things. By the end of the week the tool area is done...
In the same way, I hope the documents will be much easier to edit and update when I know that at the bottom of each doc is the code for that doc. I can in an instant see if a staff member updated it or if it needs a fresh updating.
Anything more? Not really. I've got below a statement that I wrote a while back talking about network marketing. I think you'll find it interesting.
'til next time. Sam out!
I wrote this a while back... I'd like to share it with you: Because I believe in what I said...
A WORD ABOUT NETWORK MARKETING…
Many of you may have taken a deep breath when you saw what was being done and the network marketing words that were used. Given the wide availability of affiliate/network management software there are some surprising “ideas” that come down the wire these days. That’s partly why were here.
However, there are always two ways to do things.
First of all, don’t make any assumptions. As I said in an earlier paper “we’ll take the high road” and then I advised how to market the network –using the applications.
One of the great dilemmas that I had for a long time was to have a compensation plan that was fair to everyone. Then I realized that in business there is RISK and RETURN. If you look at the individuals who are promoting the network at this “pre-launch” stage, they are clearly taking a greater risk than someone coming along in the year 2010 after visiting the web page.
Risk & Return is very important. Often people disregard the issue, but history shows the colossal ramifications to those who calculate incorrectly.
People who join now are risking more; therefore, they may earn more.
Given the situation, I tested several models of compensation, and came up with one unique solution to some of the other issues in network marketing.
First of all, we need to have a great product: I earnestly believe we have three in the Maxsimo Card, BiiG.COM and ROBO*banner –each of these can be the next “killer app”.
THESE APPS have TWO WAYS to HELP YOU SUCCEED:
As a Member, by helping you build the business that you are in –whatever it is.
As an IR, by helping you sell Membership –clearly the better the product, the easier it is to sell.
Lastly, in the compensation plan, many of our applications are paying 2-tier commissions. Thus, in addition to the network marketing model of compensation, there is another mechanism that challenges many notions about “who earns what”.
Clearly in what is running now, he/she who does more, will earn more.
I am proud of it –Our software allows us to pay network marketing commissions. AND 2-tier commission on your personal sales. This is very important to me as a new IR can go out and sign up, for example a bank to distribute our Discount Card and earn from each user. The IR, having never “recruited” anyone, can make a full-time income, working part-time.
These are the little nuances that I am very happy about and wanted to share with you. I hope to meet you one day and on that day I can shake your hand and say “We did the best we can, and we did it with elegance.”
Let’s look forward to that day –success,
