DAY 125
Update:Friday,
15-Jul-2005 2:57 PM
It's
the middle of July already and I need to reflect
on some of the events during my blogging. I
think it's a healthy dose of medicine to
look back at some of the predictions, evaluate
what was done and plan
to do more or better at least for the future.
I
think it helps greatly to look at what has
worked and what has not and that in turn helps
with future decisions.
Let
me discuss some of the mistakes that I have
made. Perhaps the foremost is trying to do
too much. My focus has to be on building the
Maxsimo Card Network via maxsimo.com --this
is my primary project and it is suppose to
be the "Grand Program" that paves the way for
me to build the the middle steps of the 31-Step
Success Plan.
One
of the ideas that I put a "lot of stock" in
was to have a full-blown sales area as part
of this site. I haven't changed my mind on
the sales area, but what I have made certain
of is that I restrict the products to the best
products that I have used or am aware of.
For
example, instead of having a sales area with
hundreds of products and services, why not
have a sales are with the best products that
can help users build business success? This
then should be the thrust of the Business Success
Center.
I
can still sell a Business Credit Building Manual,
however, I can keep the price low as possible.
I can also offer a "private area" to people
who want a summary of the site and the promotional
techniques that I use. This I can actually
give away free to those who are subscribed
to my mailing list.
Looking
at the main revenue generating ideas from P31.COM,
I am satisfied with the tasks that I have done
and the tasks that I have yet to do. That leaves
me with two other projects to discuss: The
nextsuperstock and the maxsimo.com site.
I
have updated www.nextsuperstock.com and perhaps,
I need to go thru the site about two more times
to make sure that is 'as good as it can be'.
That
leaves me with Maxsimo.com...
This
was the project that is suppose to "elevate
my work" to the next level and keep me busy
most of the day. The problem was that the programmer
that I had relied on to complete all the tasks
has departed after doing 95% of the work. The
problem with that is two fold. The 95% that
is complete is after I had cut about 50% of
the work in the first place. The second problem
is that the 5% that has not been done leaves
the other 95% of the work not working.
From
about mid June to now, this situation has caused
me a great deal of pain --the very notion that
someone who I had trusted greatly and had paid
ahead of time to get the work done completely
lied to me and then has taken off from finishing
the work. This kept me up some night in the
beginning of July and then it consumed a lot
of my day-time work hours.
Now
I am thinking the benefit of going after this
individual is not worth the effort, and it's
not my style. The way I work is to *exceed*
regardless of what other choose to do, and
in this instance I need to show this individual
that the cost of what he did is not on my end,
but on his end.
In
fact, I know that this individual will lose
out on a lot of pay because he did not work
full time as I was told nor did he complete
the work. I know for a fact that this will
cost this individual about $100,000 in pay
over the next 12 months. Too bad. That is not
my fault.
Nor
is it my concern now.
My
concern is to make sure that the maxsimo.com
project is the best it can be regardless of
who I work with. Having said that I spent about
a week looking at people I have work with and
I went back to an old organization that I had
worked with in 1999. I had left their services
to have some programmers in the Philippines
get my work done. Well, that too didn't work
that well. I should have learned from that,
but I went on to find more offshore programmers.
Now
I have come back to the Dutch company that
I worked with earlier and they do quality work.
It does cost a lot more, but again, I know
I'll get what I pay for.
In
this case I want to have two projects worked
on: First maxsimo.com, which I have developed
a complete "White Paper" --In case you are
not familiar with a 'white paper', it is a
detailed description of maxsimo.com and what
different parts of it will do. It's a description
from the first page to the ADMIN area to the
advertising. The 'white paper' discuss all
parts of it in non-technical English. What
the programmers do is take that paper and make
it "come alive" online to my specifications.
Anyway,
the white paper will be done by the new Dutch
company and I can rest assured that it will
get done properly.
The
second part of the operation is to completely
overhaul the tools at maxsimo.com. I want to
improve all the tools so that they are current
to 2005 or even 2006 standards.
For
example, robobanner.com can be a complete banner
management system like Google's Adwords(R)
or the type of ad program run by Yahoo(R).
Furthermore, robobanner can be setup to run
the ad programs for maxsimo.com.
So,
each of the tools can be updated and enhanced
to make a significant contribution to maxsimo.com's
success. I want to make sure of that by making
the tools better.
The
only tool that does not need to be greatly
improved is optinmax.com and the ezine subscription
system. I feel that is done well and it does
what is needed for the user.
All
the other tools such as exitmax, omnileads
and robobanner could stand a good dose of improvement.
All
of these items then will get white papers and
then get delivered to the new programmers to
do their work.
