DAY 94
UPDATE: Tuesday, 14-Jun-2005 1:37 PM
After
some pc problems and getting things back to normal,
I will conclude with the below discussion
about personal success.
At
this point I believe I have gotten started
in my journey to master personal
success habits. In this discussion I will conclude
what I learned
from my latest trip to Sri Lanka as I finish
the discussion of analyzing IF I am committing
the some of the blunders that I saw people
doing day after day.
I
have said over and over everything
counts. The question is am I doing
some of the same things
that keep others in a cycle of failure?
Once the below discussion is done, I will
proceed
to business
building and business success --which
I have already started, but now will focus
100% on for the coming months.
OK.
Back to the personal
success conclusion...
17.
Do I posses the right mind set to make this happen?
The
above question was what the past 90+ days were
all about. When I first got started, I was
a long way from getting all of my acts together
and making sure that I worked on exactly what
I needed to do.
As
I went about analyzing what I needed to do
better, the first conclusion was that I needed
to make sure that my mind set was up to the
challenge of success.
I
have to make sure that 100% of the time I was
thinking, planning, doing and learning to become
what I wanted to become.
Once
again, IF the mind is set and you become what
you are thinking. IF you think 100% of the
time about failure and all that goes along
with failure that is what you will continue
to do day in day out.
However,
when you think about the actions that will
become part of your success and then go about
doing the actions that require you to become
successful, you then are living it 24/7 and
that becomes you.
You
become a success. Success becomes you. It's
all in the mind.
I
have been to a lot of places where the people
just don't think like this, and I had to conclude
that a major part of success is the WAY ONE
THINKS.
If
you think failure, you become failure.
When
you think success, you become success.
Don't
believe me? Just think about the last 'bad'
day that you had and why it was a 'bad' day?
IF
you had been thinking differently, would the
type of day have changed? DId outside forces
result in an environment that contributed to
you having a 'bad' day?
All
of this is mind set. Think you are a success.
Then you will become that success.
Somewhere
along my blog I left the quota by Buddha: "Think
you can, and you will".
Along
the same lines of thought now I would like
to go back to the
second episode of the STAR WARS movies. I
think this was in the early to mid 80's. The
second one I think was called "Empire Strikes
Back".
The
scene
is where
Luke
Skywalker
has
crashed his battle ship into a swamp near the
home of Yoda.
The
battle ship is almost completely in the swamp
when young Skywalker is using his 'powers'
to bring the ship back to dry land, without
much success.
He
keeps trying, without success. After several
attempts Yoda appears and says perhaps one
of the most stunning sequences of words that
changes the "mind set" of the young Skywalker.
I
am not going to give away what Yoda said to
the young Skywalker who was trying to master
the power of the force. I want you to do some
homework and see the movie to find out.
I
wont turn you to movies to 'cultivate your
mind set' but in this instance a movie produced
by George Lucas is a good one full of philosophy
and other small lessons to learn about.
Anyway,
it's the SWAMP SCEAN at the point where Luke
Skywalker first meets Yoda. Never forget what
Yoda says to Skywalker. May the force be with
you!
Ok,
next behavior that is guaranteed to keep you
at the bottom of the pit...
18.
Am I understanding the tasks at hand? Am
I solving the problems at hand and lastly am
I innovating myself
to make everything better?
In
my case I am up to my nose with problems. I
have to deal with staff. I have to work with
deadlines. I have to make sure that items work.
I have to make sure that things are done right.
All
this leads at times to getting overburdened
by everything that needs to be done.
I
think the most useful process I have learned
from the blog and my personal success building
is the TO DO LIST that I keep writing, updating
and working with.
Note
that I talked extensive about how the TO
DO LIST is setup several weeks ago. To find
it search the site via Google.
The
list literally had hundreds of items in it
over the past year. The biggest list was undertaken
when I started planning for the move last year.
From
that time, each item that was done kept getting
erased and each time I did that, I was one
step closer to getting the entire project done.
Sure there were times when I added MORE ITEMS
than I scratched off. But that will happen
with everything that you do.
That
is LIFE! Welcome. It never ends. The lists
keep growing!
But
what do you do?
How
do you overcome it? How do you concur it?
Just
keep going at it. Just keep moving forward.
Sooner or later, keeping the focus on what
you have to do, you get the job done.
That
I am afraid is the only good answer there is.
The
TO DO LIST and the way it is organized has
made a great difference.
I
believe the only item that consistently gave
me problems in getting done were the PRESS
RELEASES. Those have yet to be done.
Guess
what? They will get done, as have all other
items.
But
the organization does not happen overnight.
You'll need to practice and come up with a
process of organizing that you are comfortable
with. Then you'll need to practice, practice
and practice.
Just
do it. Just get started. Then all will fall
into place.
So,
there you are. This is the humble beginning
that I moved along way back when, and now I
can talk about it. Things are moving, and things
are working. It all takes time.
Now
here is another item that you will find out
works to your advantage as you begin this process:
That is you'll find yourself innovating in
your daily life. At first, you will work had
to innovate yourself. And you will find out
that you are leading a better
life
on a
daily basis. Then you will find out that this
is an automated process and everything that
you lay your hands on will work like that.
That
is when the fun will begin. Trust me it feels
good. It feels VERY GOOD.
Then
you will find out that you are doing the same
at work. In the end you will see that your
entire home and work environment will elevate
with everything that you do!
Just
get started and you'll see what I mean...
19.
Am I communicating the best I can and as clearly
as I can?
This
must be one of my most important tasks on a
daily basis. Most of the people I work with
are strewn over many continents and time zones.
IF I try
to keep up with all of it and don't manage
the time, then I end up working 24/7.
To
make sure that I have a life, I need to foresee
many of the needs and wants of everyone. I
need to make sure that I am thinking two steps
ahead.
Well,
that is not that difficult to do so long as
I have the right information to make decisions.
However, the problems lay when I don't get
the feedback from staff.
Then
I have to make decisions like a blind man.
Ever hear of the tale that a one-eyed man is
a king among a arena full of the blind?
Information
is KING.
I
need to make sure that my communication and
that of the staff and now the people that I
work with is the best and freest. And did I
forget to say in a TIMELY MANNER? Oh, yes,
it has to be timely.
To
make sure of this I stepped back and looked
at some of the problems we have had and came
up with a solution.
Now
that solution is at http://www.maxsimo.org.
Here
is a new page if you wish to go there
and take a look. This is a forum program that
I setup to take the leadership
in
the discussions
that
we
need
to have and make sure that the problems are
discussed in an open forum that everyone can
see.
This
is very American and thus very open. It will
not at all times present information that I
want to see. But then again, as long as I and
the staff do what we need to do and do it right,
I will see more and more pleasing posts in
the forum. I hope.
If
we don't do it right, then we'll see our mistakes
talked about there too.
But
then again that is how you learn and progress
and build and grow.
So,
I think that I have setup the communication
channels correctly and now I need to sit back,
monitor them and write about what we need to
do.
Then
again, I shouldn't forget about my other daily
communication tool. This blog is now posting
in the 200+ page count.
That
too means I have elavated my communications
and that I am laying out on the table everything
that I want to do and wish to do --for everyone
to see.
Then,
I better get it right. I better do as I say!
AND I better say as I do... {B>)
With
that I move on...
20.
Have I taken
on too many tasks and then failing
at all instead of doing a few things very
well?
In
my first 90 days of blogging I believe this
was a theme that I went back and forth several
times.
I
kept talking about this very fact. Have I taken
on too many tasks.
Often
I have failed just because I tried to do too
many things at one time and ended up never
doing any one of the items right.
Then
obviously the idea is to stop doing everything
and pick an item or two that I can focus on
and get it right.
I
believe I have done that. I believe now I have
gotten to a good rhythm and that I am following
it on a daily basis.
I
must admit that I haven't kept up with some
aspects of the stock market. The reason purely
is that we have hit a "soft spot" in the economy
of the US of A and now it's a matter waiting
a few more months until things pick up. That
may be two or three more months. But until
the market gets some "feet" and established
direction, the best spot for me is to wait
in the side lines.
Other
than that, I am doing everything that I need
to do and not much more. Personally, even the
hobbies I have at this moment are manageable
and don't take up a lot of time.
My
entire focus has thus become to make sure that
I get the items that I am working on the best
they can be.
Having
done many aspects of that --making sure that
the things I do are done the best that they
can be done, and elevating myself in the process,
I have found out that things begin to work
in my favor.
Little,
little things begin to work in my favor and
then I am sure after 10 little, little things
there will be one big item. I know that is
how things work because I have seen it work
like that in the past as well.
When
you are working on projects for your success,
don't count on getting BIG THINGS done all
the time. Get them broken down into as many
MINI PROJECTS as you can and get the mini projects
done. Then you will see that those big projects
are easy to get done too.
Even
break things down to 31-STEPS as I have done
with many things here!
And
having said that, I need to end my personal
success discussion. I will now turn to business
success building for this site and my primary
project --the maxsimocard at www.maxsimo.com.
If you'd like to go there, here is the link
with a new page: www.maxsimo.com.
Now
to some paper and pen as I layout some of my
business building plans. I will discuss them
starting with DAY 95 and go from there. Wow,
still have days to DAY 100. As I said, I got
a bit late when my main PC locked me out. But
that happens. Now I am running like hell to
catch up and that is going great.
So,
see you there... Sam.
