DAY 25 UPDATE: Wednesday, 02-Mar-2005 12:50 PM
Last night at about the end of my time at the computer an event that I didn't think of happened: My wife asked what I was doing.
Then the full explanation followed and the site URL was mentioned. All this time I don't think she had an idea of what I was typing away at, now all that is out.
The initial response was a "5" --no comment either way basically.
Typical.
Usually what you'll see for a spouses' response is the following: If it works and generates money they will be all for it. However, if it looks like a waste of time, then the negative comments follow. After nearly ten years my wife knows not to say much as that does not change my focus.
In your case that may not be the case. I have seen many people seek a "second opinion" from a beloved only to turn 90 degrees and fade away. Don't let that be the defining point in the success that you build, what ever you do.
For some of you the support from a spouse, friend or other form of family or even a business partner will be vital. There will be the days when ALL HOPE is LOST and nothing you do will work. IF this was not the case everyone would be an Entrepreneur.
Remember the earlier example of the entrepreneur who declared bankruptcy seven times on the way to success? Remember his name? He was a Floridian and had a "enormous" idea. A kingdom in a swamp to start. Just Walt Disney. If you wish to energize your soul just read about his start up sometime. The more you do, the more energy you discover.
You'll often see that what you are doing does not have a road map and may have to be changed a 100 times before anyone pays attention to it. Or before it becomes commercially successful or even achieves the necessary "return" that you seek. Not all "returns" that satisfy you should be financial.
However, after you stick to your cause with determination you'll see that others will jump on the band wagon over time. And success will be at hand...
One thing that I do on a weekly basis is read about others who endured months, years and at time decades to reach their goals and aspirations. Human kind is full of these stories. As I said earlier, only those who have given up, do I consider failures.
And for those who deep inside yean to make a change, make a difference and step up to the next level -- CARPE DIEM!
Speaking of support, seek it. However, in the absence of support always seek your own ways to cultivate and build your ideas.
All these years she's (my wife) been a great support. I don't think I'd be at this point with out that help.
However, when I started the P31 project --an idea that I had fostered for about 5 years before the typing started --was not mentioned because I wanted to share the success of it with her. But, how is success measured? At STEP 28? 29? or 31?
That I would not recommend. What I have learned so far is that success is a journey and the best way to enjoy the success is to enjoy it daily. This is something that I forget at times and I am reminded quickly by my wife who loves to travel and see new things. She spends about 6 weeks going to places every year and in the beginning I had a tough time following. Americans find it very difficult to take more than a week or two off, let alone an entire month. One can learn!
In my case as long as I "stick to the plan" I believe I am a success.
Anyway, I have to return to the software design for maxsimo.com. Next Monday it needs to go into production and I better have my fine points detailed. And it's the end of lunch.
