DAY 90

5.
Am I completing tasks? Am I timely?
When I first analyzed this part of my life, my
answer was not good. I was routinely late.
I analyzed further why I was often late, and the answer was that I had undertaken too many tasks. Then I kept making sure that I did not undertake too many tasks and I kept focus on the ones that I needed to finish. Perhaps of all the items that improved since I started the blog, this is item number one.
It seems that I am keeping up with tasks and I mentioned several times that I was even ahead of things.
However, upon returning from my last trip things did get a bit late as I had to catch up on so many things.
But that happens.
So, back to the question's answer: The answer is that I have had tremendous improvement in the way that I do things and the result has been very good timeliness and many objectives getting done on time --if not ahead of time.
6. Am I disciplined enough to focus on the needs at hand? Am I disciplined to focus on some of the other ideas that I have presented above?
Once again, this is a question that I have asked myself several times over the course of my blog updates. The answer has been yes, as I have several times stopped short of undertaking new assignments that would create a lot of work and kept focusing on the tasks at hand and getting them done.
All this has led to getting things done, getting things done on time and getting the right things done.
I think the fact that I am closing on the 100th day of my blog updates speaks for itself. I read often that there are millions and millions of blogs out there. I just wonder how many of them are up-to-date.
So, the answer to all this is in front of our eyes...
7. Am I possessing the education and knowledge to implement my ideas? Have I surrounded myself with people who posses the methods and knowledge that I do not have?
This is not an easy answer to write down. Often I tell people that I am a person who does not know more than any other person you have met.
I bet that line will take a bit to understand... Let me take a second to read it and make sure that I said it correctly.
Yes, typed correctly. What I mean by that is that I know a lot about a lot of different things. It's no accident because I spend about six to eight hours a day just reading. From news papers online to books, that's about all I do.
The subjects are also vary greatly --from engineering, physics to books about investing and self-improvement.
All in all, about 40 books a year. And another 5 to 10 books are repeats. These are books that have great messages, so I read them over.
My knowledge can be seen like a basketball. What I know is inside it. What I don't know is outside. Others may posses a volleyball and that I why I say that I don't know more than others.
Anyway, the point is that I have to keep learning and advancing in order to make sure that the primary, secondary and even this blog that I have undertaken serves a purpose.
The purpose should be to make better, do better and to inform better, as is the case of the blog.
The blog has. It has become an extension of my learning. Now I am starting to post everything that I am learning. Well, I'll spare you the details about the fantastic engineering and space-age tolerances build into the Great Pyramids at Giza --that's another conversation.
I will tell you that my discussion here will shortly end and another will begin about what it takes to build business success as I do everything to build www.maxsimo.com.
As far as the second part of the question: That is my problem at this time. Our staff are from a country that is alien to me and that is presenting a lot of problems.
I have planned a resolution for that, and it's getting implemented as we speak via the www.maxsimo.org support site that I have created.
I have found out the offshore work does not yield the same dividends that we often hear about. The output of our staff is not that great. It has taken a team to do the work of a hand-full and getting it done on time has never happened.
So, I have used the current opportunity to get out our demonstration phase for www.maxsimo.com and the next phase is to get support staff from the USA and Netherlands to complete the tasks at hand.
Once again, a problem and an immediate solution.
8. Am I working hard to meet my expectations?
YOU BET. That's the only way I know. Nothing has ever come easy for me. Nothing ever does. If I slack off, I know Murphy is around the corner (Murphy's Law and everything going wrong, for you who have never heard of it).
So, I plug away and make sure that I do all I can do to get things going. Still, things are never easy nor are they predictable.
At every corner there is something that was not foreseen and one that can get the best of me.
I know it. It even happened when I got back from the trip. My expectation that an Associate has finished his tasks working full time were dashed.
What to do? In this case I used it as an example.
Then back to work. Getting things done. For me there are no short cuts. There are no easy paths.
There always seems to be one direction and that is the overworked and the one with the dim light at the end of the tunnel.
I keep plugging away. As I will with the last set of thoughts... See you then. Sam.
