DAY #152
UPDATE: Thursday, 03-Nov-2005 9:48 AM
Over the past 36 hours I have slowly gotten the Maxsimo Network going. I first put up 4 ads in Ebay selling a "setup" to new IRs as I call them. An IR is an Independent Representative. The results of the ad are not as successful as I hoped. The original investigation showed me that I can get as much as 10,000 or even 16,000 views of the ad, as I saw about a half-dozen ads.
So, I crafted a similar ad and used similar images and put up an ad. So far it has had about 100 views and no sign ups to the network, yet.
I think in the ten-day run the ad will get about a 1000 views, and generate around 100 visitors to the promotional site. However, I see very few of these visitors signing up at this time, let alone doing something.
This is all my fault as I should have known that an Ebay ad is very broad to focus on what I was trying to get done. I think I'll get enough of a sign up rate to justify my spending, however, I could have done much better.
I think the Yahoo and Google AdWords ads will do a lot better at reaching a very targeted audience.
Speaking of advertising, I've got to do just that, so, I'll make this quick and get to it. There's a lot to do, but all this is getting to be a lot of fun!
IN ANOTHER STUDY, I FOUND THE BELOW ISSUES:
After checking the site locally, I found out the below details thanks to Dreamweaver:
Files: 369 Total, 321 HTML, 1598 Orphaned
Files 23490 All links, 19602 OK, 1012 Broken, 2876 External
This is a HUGE problem for several reasons. First of all, it's bad for visitors to get a "404: PAGE NOT FOUND ERROR" and secondly, it's very poor for search engines to find so many errors when they SPIDERS crawl over the site.
The issue was also related to unreachable images. The template that I have created to generate the pages that I use had an image that it called, and it was missing. That alone generate over 300 'errors'. I think all of this was causing some problems. My traffic which had steadily improved for months was actually declining over the summer.
By running the above check, I have isolated the problems. About 80 percent of the issue were system-wide errors that were part of the template that were missing.
I will spend about an hour today resolving the issue. I think about 80 percent of the errors will disappear.
ANOTHER THOUGHT BEFORE I CALL IT a DAY on MY BLOG
I have found out what form of advertising is HIGHLY EFFECTIVE and I am going to write an article about that in the PRIVATE AREA of the REVENUE CHECK site.
This type of advertising is essentially the most expensive type, but the payment needs to be made only *after* the results are "in". Thus, it is easier to manage the costs and truly build any type of business.
Again, I'll make this article part of my writing for the revenuecheck.com site and let the IR's know how effective it can be.
OK, then with that thought I'll close. I think I am back in my stride and moving along after a brief pause. The pennies are doubling, again!
Sam out.
