Just like that the days are flying. Last week I was on a mini-vacation and didn't get to update anything. This week I have been busy with some home-projects and kept entering data into the business credit building site I setup.
That work is nearly done. My next focus with the site will be the marketing plan where I intend on purchasing key word phrases on several pay-per-click search engines.
The largest of these types of search engines is Google. Then MSN and Yahoo round out the top three. After that my interest is in networks where I can pay a monthly fee and advertise.
The goal as I had mentioned earlier is to spend about $0.25 to $0.95 per qualified visitor. Then convert that to the $49.95 membership fee that I am charging. The idea is to spend about $5.00 to $7.00 for the cost of each sale that is bringing in $49.95 less the costs for the shopping cart and credit card merchant account fees.
One of my goals with the traffic I am generating is to make sure that it is highly targeted. The way I got the idea in the first place is by looking at the traffic logs for this site. One of the pages I noticed kept getting a lot of traffic. When I looked up the page, it was about business credit building. However, the domain www.p31.com is not a good domain to market a business credit building membership website.
Then I decided to make the more to the new domain. Setup a complete membership site and then proceed to build traffic. This is of course much easier to plan than to do and run.
Now the site is almost done, and I hope to start marketing it in the next 24 to 48 hours.
Then I have some other ideas to build traffic for business credit building dot com. Obviously, good traffic comes from people clicking links on topics targeted to their interests and getting directed to a website containing information they want and expect as a result of clicking the link.
Then the conclusion is the links clicked by those who are actively searching for "business credit building" are just about "half sold" when they visit the site. I have to make sure that my sales page is compelling enough for the visitor to make the final move and enter the purchasing information.
Then the magic formula for the sales to stay red hot is: Targeted, Targeted and more Targeted TRAFFIC!
The first method is for me to buy the target traffic links from search engines as I mentioned above.
This method is fast and I'll quickly know the results. The problem is that my budget is *very small* since I am only at STEP 11 of the penny doubling process and I don't have too much room for error. In fact, I may only get one shot at getting it right.
Then my goal is to focus on the below key words and generate TARGETED TRAFFIC:

According to Overture.com's Key Word Suggestion tool >> , the above are the most common searches to "business credit" that are done in a month. That means that on any given month about 200,000 searches are done at Overture.com.
My goal is to find a way to drive about 0.5% to 1.0% of this traffic -say about 1,000 to 2,000 people to my site on a monthly basis. From that I hope to convert about 6% to 8% into paid customers.
When doing this I have to be very careful that I do not exceed my ad budget. Let say that each visitor costs $0.50 average by using pay-per-click ads. That translates into a cost of $500 to $1,000 just to get the traffic there. Then I have to hope that the conversion is about 6% to 8% or I have a serious problem.
Therefore, my approach in this situation is too fold. I will purchase the traffic to start, but keep building several steps to get traffic on a continuous basis by doing self promotion --press releases, articles, etc.
There was another issue that I have not discussed at length. When I first setup http://www.businesscreditbuilding.com it was ranked #13 on Google and #2 on MSN. I have not gotten any serious traffic from MSN with such a good ranking.
Then the listing from Google just dropped off the search engine. I sent an email to Google's engineering asking about the problem, but I never got a response.
Now http://www.businesscreditbuilding.com is listed at Google, but not at #13. I really have no idea where it's listed, but it's not in the top 10 of the searches. My goal now is to get the listed on the first page. I have to keep experimenting until I get the site on the first page for the search term "business credit building".
I really don't put that much time into "organic search engine" positioning because it takes too much time. It's wonderful IF it works, but when the search engines revise their listings and I end up on page #2, what will I do then?
The best thing to do is NOT to count on it and do my best elsewhere.
Lastly, the one method that I plan to use most to attract visitors is by writing articles for each of my sites. One article a week for example per site would yield about, lets say conservatively, 30 articles a year. Then multiply that out by 1000 visitors a year from each article and that can add up to over 150,000 for five sites. Even more important, the articles can be revised and resubmitted and done over and over the articles can lead to improved search engine exposure and more linking back to each of the sites.
This is my marketing "game plan" in summary:
1. Purchase visitors to start with using the above key words. Not all of them, but the best ones that I pick.
2. Get the sites improved and relevant content so that they are ranked well in searches.
3. Write articles that link back to each of the sites and post/publish these articles where ever I can.
