On to TODAY'S TOPIC: CREATING the BUZZ!
This summer and most of fall I have been inundated by what I'd call a public menace. Just someone that I thought was a complete waste of time. A killer of time. I call him BORAT. Believe it or not the guy even made a movie.
I rank my movies the following way: Good enough to go to the theater. The last one that I'd put in that category is CARS by Disney/Pixar from this summer. I had a great time and it was the first complete family picture. I would not have predicted it, but both guys lasted the entire movie. It was fantastic.
The next category of movies are those that are good enough to rent, and commit 2 hours during a week to enjoy. I have had a lot of success picking future movies from past previews. In this case I'll rent a good movie and in the 3 or 4 previews there's also another good movie that I'll check out and rent.
Another category is movies that I will see only in a plane. While stuck for 8, 10 or 16 hours, there's got to be something to do, and a movie comes in handy. Now to BORAT. I am not even sure if I spelled it correctly. It's not worth the time to even check. Borat is a movie I think to avoid at all cost.
NOW to the REASON I BRING THIS ALL UP
Just one question -- How the heck did he get all that attention? Well, the media happens to like a problem. They love controversy. They crave misery. As a fan of aviation, I absolutely loath the amount of time they take on an air plane crash. In the fifty states there might be 250 major car accidents per day, but take a small or a commuter plane and they are ON IT LIKE FLIES! I really don't like the media. OOPS. Hey, I suppose I might be part of it. Perhaps, some of the media. {B>)
Anyway, Borat (Humm, I like the RAT part). Perhaps, written like BO*RAT might be better. Anyway, the guy didn't really create any controversy, but then the Kazaks stepped in and did him a favor. They completely denied everything. They attacked Borat. They worked just as vigorously to defend their part of the world. Well, in the end there was a good controversy for the press. Believe me, peace and stability in Iraq is *not* what the press wants. They want mayhem. And that is what they are getting. Let me take this example --WHEN is the last time you read something about BOSNIA? Ok, I rest my case. It's like everyone there dropped off the planet.
So, I don't want to create controversy. That is not what I want to get into and kill my focus. What I have to do is to GET MY FOOT INTO the MEDIA and "use" the media to build the traffic to the network. Especially, for the PENNY project. This is the only way I can eclipse 1,000 vitsitors per day. This is the only way I can hope to get to 5,000 or 10,000 visitors per day. Since each visitor equals a little less than ten cents ($0.10/visitor), that is not a laughing matter.
How do I do that? The first idea is the TWO contests. The first is for ANYONE. Just fill a form. Confirm the email address and enter. Perhaps, the only requirement is to receive an email. The second contest is for VC: Venture Capital -- I will take STEPS 19 to 29 and award a PRIZE at each step to the BEST ONLINE BUSINESS PLAN that is sent via PDF to our network via http://www.dotmax.org, the site setup to trademark (REGISTERED) .MAX and infuse the network with great products.
But what else can I do? Well, I have a few friends in the media. I'll send them the press release about the site and see what reactions I get. However, I have touched on this idea before and ruled out doing it until about the 25th step when I think people will pay attention rather frequently. I see that happening in 2007. Thus, I have to be ready for it.
What else? Aside for making the "P" equal to PORN, which represents perhaps 60% of the Internet traffic, I don't really have a good idea. BUT, I don't dread that --Remember way back when I didn't know what to do the NEXT DAY? Well, those days are gone. Now I have plenty to do. So, I am sure a nice idea will come along and I'll exercise the finances and even higher help to execute the idea.
Now to get my day started --off to the manual. Carpe Diem. Sam out.
