Today I wanted to give a tip on a product that anyone who wants to succeed on the Internet should study and if possible install and run on their own server.

The product is PLESK -- I manage the hosting of several site using PLESK on Linux and Windows.

What it does is help a person, who tries to stay away from "code" as much as one can, manage the hosting of a site or even custom software.

Having problems setting up a MYSQL database? Don't have the time to learn Linux?

In this day and age, all that is possible using a program like PLESK.

Once a server using Microsoft's Windows Server 2003 or any flavor of Linux is installed, then you can install PLESK. Which will then help manage all the hosting, email setup and even database management.

In my case, tonight I wanted to setup a mailing list server that would read data from a MYSQL database, customize the e-mail with data and send out a custom e-mail. All that setup, done by someone like me, who does not have the time to learn all the code.

I work most of the time from a visual environment. In this case, I can visually manage all aspects of a server using Plesk.
