DAY # 518: ULTRA SMALL PC UPDATE: Today I am looking forward a bit... And going back a day to finish my first article for maxsimo.ORG. Locking forward --ALL about domain names. In my case here is the way I manage and register domains. I look forward. For example, PCs are getting smaller and small. So, I searched at Network Solutions and Go Daddy Software the domains for SMALL PCs. The domain ULTRA SMALL PC was availble and I took it for the company. What is another emerging industry? How about SPACE? Space travel? OR even a very technical field like NONO MACHINES or AUTONOMOUS ROBOTS. |

I hope you get the point here... When registering a domain name you can do one of two things: 1> Register something cleaver and memorable. I suppose SEND MY INFO (http://www.sendmy.info >>) is such a domain that comes to mind. 2> The alternative is to look at emerging industries and technologies. As I said above, small PC's and SPACE are two that I've takes a few domains in. The idea in the latter (#2) is to grow the content as the industry grows. You can compare this to Google or Yahoo's directory where the content kept growing as the Internet grew. In this case, your content --and then number of pages on your web site will grow as the new industry grows. Now back to ULTRA SMALL PCS: The goal of any webmaster is to make the site STICKY -- And that means to have people first find the site. Then keep coming back to the site. There are a few ways to do this and on Ultra Small PC's I'll employ two of them: 1> Create a e-mailing list or informative Ezine. 2> Create a community with a CMS (content management system) like WORDPRESS. 3> Use an online bulletin board system (BBS) to have users post message. The name of the game is "INTERACTIVE" and a site can do that with a combination of the above. That is what I am planning on doing. The CMS will be WORDPRESS. I'll then add vBULLETING to manage the forums and my existing setup to manage a mailing list. Like all the sites that I've setup, I hope to automate much of this site so that I can experiment, but keep my focus on the Maxsimo.NET network. Ok, with that thought I'll return to work.
