DAY # 214
UPDATE: Saturday, 07-Jan-2006 9:48 PM
Just sat here to discuss one of the observations that I have made with with the network in the past 9 weeks, helping people promote it. The observation I have made is that most of the people are waiting to see what everyone else is doing. For example, when one of the largest Internet promoters sent out a mailing, there was a huge amount of activity before the holidays, and now that has slowed down. The conclusion is that the "moments is winding down" -- not good at all.
To resolve the situation, I got our programming to setup biig.net immediately. I had this on the planning board for sometime. But I had planned on the debut after the main projects started going.
Then I realized a problem with the current setup. It requires people to do a bit of work with an outcome coming days, weeks and at times a month or two later. Most people who get signed up to something like this are looking for results in days, if not at times, even hours. Then the question is 'is there a way to deliver?' and the answer is "YES!".
That is why I have decided to move up the production of biig.net to the present. It will enable people to press one button or just "cut and past" a URL and then see results of their actions very quickly. Often within hours of setting up their START PAGE using biig.net.
The setup has several intentions. First the ads get circulated and clicked on. Second, the user of the system also starts to get rewarded for their actions.
I should have thought about the rewards of such a system a while back, but once again, it's very difficult to plan ahead when the results of what you're doing in the first place are not so obvious.
I'll just focus on what is now clearly the message here: There needs to be activity. There needs to be even a small amount of momentum. There needs to be some amount of action. I think I can deliver just that. Carpe Diem, Sam.
