Yes, back here on a Sunday, but what to do when working on databases is SO MUCH FUN!

One of the complex problems when I started planning on the Maxsimo Network a while back was the database. It was very complex. I suppose in the real world we'd have a team of developers, information architecture staff and even more people designing and implementing the database.

Not here. I have done most of the work, and one of the aspects that have made it much easier is MySQL as an open source db. Before this try we were using Oracle and I had no real clue about Oracle, tables and SQL statements. Now I know enough to make me very dangerous. So that is why I initiate the work, and do some testing and they pass it on to someone who can add value by making sure that my work will not only work for a few people but a few hundred people at a time.

While all the database work continues, I have consistently gone over maxsimo.com and biig.com --several times to make sure that the 'template' that I will be using for the entire site is what I want 100%. Otherwise, changes at a later time will be very difficult.

I also realized an important part of the maxsimo.com site. About 4 years ago I had the idea to use the site in the following way --regardless of a member or merchant or even a potential affiliate visiting --when an EXIT LINK was pressed the system would send the user to a page where they first had to enter an ID number of an affiliate before they could go anywhere. The purpose was to identify the visitor and know who would get credit for that user.

This would also allow the Affiliates to put their own CODE on newspaper ads, posters, business cards, and just about anything that they wanted to use for advertising. As long as the "code" was there, the person who took the trouble to place the advertising was going to get credit for doing what they are suppose to do.

My thoughts are a bit drained now. I've got to go. I may come back at the end of the day, but I am not sure. Carpe Diem, Sam.
