DAY # 239
UPDATE: Wednesday, 15-Feb-2006 2:05 PM
After several attempts getting the biig.com setup going and getting key word lock to work, I have made some progress. I am not proclaiming that I am done. By no means am I done. What I have gotten done is just the start. The ability to search, the ability to enter a listing and the ability to navigate the site --some parts of the site are complete and ready to display.
Once the data, the site navigation and the overall 'look 'n feel" is just about what I want it to be, I'll pass the work on to the professionals. Until then I'll keep tweaking things just to make it as perfect as it can be.
So, I have been at this for a better than 8 week period and I am still at it. However, I need to settle down a bit in my self evaluation. All this work is intended to continue for years and years -- hopefully, many decades. Once this set of needs are met there will be just as many more, so, I need to keep working on an even pace and not try to overdue things like I did on several days in December.
Today I am finalizing more advertising online and in a newspaper. I will put the results up in our advertising section in the member area in March. Again, the idea was to expand the IR base by about 400 to 600 this month, and I am confident that we can reach that amount before the end of the month.
I also think that with more and more activity at biig.com, I can keep the IRs much more "active" in the organization. This will result in more and more activity and getting the network a much better ranking. What I mean by this is to get above the 1,000 point on the world's list of web sites. We have a long way to go. At this time maxsimo.net is ranked just a bit below 200k at Alexa.com. And each quarter I think that it's gaining about 25,000. I think by the end of this year it will reach much better than that as the process is well under way.
So, the advertising continues and I'll have a wrap up of the results at the end of the month right before the ad budget is doubled again for March. I think the doubling will continue for March, April and May when I think it will be adjusted. Eventually, the advertising will stop except for corporate recognition type ads.
UPDATE: Wednesday, 15-Feb-2006 10:30 PM
Well, after weeks and weeks of turtle pace progress --slow and steady, the past few days have been leaps and bounds. Today was another such day and I am about to fire off a description to programming. Finally.
I hope that by the weekend, the KEY WORD LOCK at biig.com will be operational, as well as a few other options that I have been working on. At this point IF I try to keep doing more items where I am trying to tweak things and add items here and there, I might regress as oppose to making progress. Now it's time for a professional to handle the basic items.
The setup is working and now the part that needs to be completed is the integration with the ADMIN and minor "look 'n feel" items. It's been a long haul --longer that I first thought. However, with all the personal issues I've had during the holidays and then getting things moving in the new year, it's not all that bad or overly delayed.
As I read tonight to my kids, slow and steady was how the turtle beat the hare in the race!
Now looking ahead a bit:
1> Advertising is well under way. I think many IR's will wake up when they get emails that say "Maxsimo.NET New User Notification".
2> I have picked a few "key IRs" who joined and trusted me back in November of 2005 to build a great network. The corporate advertising will benefit them.
3> I still have a lot of reports and files to update. I will rank them in order of importance and get to another round of updates. I already have the list.
4> I all the time get more product ideas, but I just write them down now and look over them when I travel or via my notebook as I have time. I cannot have *new product* ideas, no matter how great they are getting in the way of ideas that I have built and need to update. Those have priority. After all they are "what works" and they need to be kept up with. I think the best example of this is the Member ADMIN AREA. It has had a major update and now looks nice.
The next update will separate it between Members, IR's and MY OWN ADMIN.
5> Enjoy life! I have worked a lot in the past 8 months. There is a bit of irony that I work like this in a company that's objective is to help others better enjoy life with their own success. I too need to enjoy things and make sure that my walk meter (pedometer) registers at least 5,000 steps per day and at least 15,000 once a week. I've done the 5k X2 this week. Perhaps, on Friday I'll take a half day and do the four hour walk that will take me over 10 miles or around 15KM.
That thought ends another day. Carpe Diem. Sam.
