UPDATE: Thursday, 02-Mar-2006 12:54 PM
Today is d ay two where I started to focus each of my daily updates on one topic, instead of jumping around many ideas.
I have some time to discuss the importance of planning. I set down for several hours away from the computer and wrote down a lot of notes on my TO DO LIST folder. Actually, I have been working on this for the past week because the number of people that I have to work with keeps increasing and the complexity of what the network is doing also expands. It's a lot to manage, but until there are many more people at the management level at the company I need to handle most of it.
Here are some of the issues that I am up against as the company rapidly grows:
1> Financing and Spending Cash Flow -- I have to make sure that we don't over spend or make errors in equipments acquisition.
2> Programming -- I have to work with loyal programmers that are up to the task of using the latest MySQL and PHP combinations to get our tasks done, in a rapid manner.
3> Network -- I have to make sure that the sites and network deliver what I have promised.
4> Support -- I have to make sure that services and resources for IR support are in place.
Now the task goes back to my list of items TO DO from the month of Dec/Jan that I have kept hammering away at. Sooner or later the list of items will get done, however, I need to make sure that I don't have a new list that has twice as many things on it. To make sure that I get everything done, I have posted all the ' To Do ' items on my notebook and I'll keep crossing things off as I get to them.
NEW LOOK to the BLOG UPDATE AREA:
Yes, after careful deliberation and learning how to best utilize Google's Adwords, I have made these changes:
1> The larger ad size at the top of the blog.
2> The color matches the background and the borders blend in. In addition, these are much larger ads.
I will return to the blog at sometime with the effect of following this proven formula.
ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE UTILIZED an AD TRACKING PROGRAM:
One of the keys to any business success is knowing what is happening at the company. In this case, I want to know what is happening with the ads that are part of the site. I want to learn which ads are getting clicked on the most, and then concentrate my writing to support those types of advertisers in non-blog type areas. I cannot change the blog to meet this criteria as I will then "sell my soul" to what I am doing to the advertisers. However, by knowing which ads are doing the best, I can better look at what is happening on key areas and expand the content of those areas.
I must part now. It's busy for the start of the month. It's busy near the end of the week. It's just busy. Carpe Diem, Sam out.
