I spent a part of the day looking at scripts --php and mySQL code that helps me make the site "dynamic" by adding content "on the fly". For example, by simply inserting the current date and time at the bottom of a page I can make that page appear to be a page that was updated that day. In addition I can use the same programming code type to display a quote of the day and various other content that can show daily changes.
Some of the content can be random, but still the end result is that the page appears to show fresh content on a daily basis.
The importance of all this is just for the search engines. At one point I discounted the idea of doing a lot of things for the search engines, however, I am reminded by a saying that I repeat often -- "go with the flow". And at this time the 'flow' shows that last month over 600 sites, robots, crawlers, etc. found p31.com. In addition, last month had the most ever daily visitor average, at a very small 69 on average. Who cares? Well, I do. I had to start somewhere. And I did. My first month in September 2004, I had 6 visitors. I think 3 of them were know as me, myself and I.
I had no idea who the others were.
Now things are getting interesting. My observation is that if I have gotten over 600 places to refer to this site, then I can get 6,000 and then 60,000 places to do so. It will no doubt take some time, but that is all what this discussion is about.
Now getting back to inserting various php type code in to the html pages on the blog. Well, that's far easier said than done. To do that I will have to convert all the page, which number more than 400 at the time I write this, to .php type pages. I downloaded a program that will take seconds to get that done, but then I'll have to upload all the pages that were converted to the web server. That may take some work and time.
The other promotional idea that I had, but never implemented was to send out press releases. I held back on doing that because I thought no one would care that I collected change around the house and got started. Of course, that was the point --to start regardless of the circumstance or position. I thought that I'd send out press releases when I had gotten to about STEP 21 or 22 and had a good way of connecting with the people who visit the site.
At this point the best way to connect with visitors is by offering some form of contest to get them to subscribe to the site's mailing list or to connect to the site.

I made a lot of changes in the last two hours to test Google's Adsense, but in the end I settled on the major change that was done two days ago. In the end no changes were made to this template. I'll stick to that for now as more changes are made to the site and see what happens.
OK, enough time spent here. I've got to go. Sam out. Carpe Diem.
