CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (CMS)
At the same time there is a world of content management system out there that can do the same job, while taking into account dozens of new technologies and site optimization strategies. I am not taking advantage of them.
The first CMS that comes into mind is WORDPRESS. I talked about the program a few days back, but since then I have installed it on this site. The installation was about 5 minutes including time to setup the database. These programs have really come a long way!
My idea is to slowly use a few aspects of it on this site, mainly to automate the "feeds" of blog updates that I write and a few other enhancements to make it much easier to interact with other users. One enhancement that I'd like to make is the use of a "feedback" area at the bottom of the page, but making one out of scratch will take too much time. Plugging one in from WORDPRESS should take only a few hours. That goes the same way for the 'feeds' --I hope it is much easier to do that with WORDPRESS as well. You can learn all about WORDPRESS from http://www.wordpress.org >>
SO WHAT DID I GET DONE THIS MONTH?
Well, with a few days to go, it's a bit of "work in progress" however, I am just about there.
Maxsimo.COM -- The database is done by my efforts, but I need to make sure that the setup is 'OK' so I'll get a programmer to look at it next.
I am completing installing the Maxsimo.ORG database and should be done with it and the WORDPRESS element of it by this weekend.
Lastly, I hope to finish my VOICE at the new referral site --the sample is here: http://www.revenuecheck.com
Much of the month was spent researching how I could automate much of the tasks that I am using to update several sites. I had originally used my own template to put the sites up, but that was going to be too much of a task in the long run. My goal was to find out a way using the newer CMS --content management systems out there. I am now going with WORDPRESS, as I mentioned above.
WHAT TO FOCUS on in MAY
Just to make things better. In many ways the "version 1.0" has gotten just about complete, but at the same time I have been taking notes on VERSION 2.0 for all the network tools. Now my goal is to put that on paper and forward it to programming.
I think at this point I have come to a stage where all the planning is now getting implemented, and now it's a matter of "inching up, bit by bit" with quality. Small changes here, and change there --In the end the product and membership will get a whole lot better!
Sam out! Carpe Diem.
