MEASURING PROGRESS, STEP at a TIME:
7 Series: When I started the PENNY BUILDING STEPS, I figured there would be failures where I would have to "withdraw" that instance. What I decided to do then was to create and run 5 'instances' of STEP BUILDING and pull out ones at some pre-determined points. This would also allow me to "enjoy the journey" as well.
So, there are 5 growing at the start. Then I decided to add one for the staff who are helping at the company. And those that are coming in the future. Looking at all the things I am doing, it will take about 15 people eventually. I also aim to explore a real estate/travel network, and that may take many more. For all these people I am building 'instance #6'. Then there is #7 -- it's at http://www.maxsimo.org. >> The objective is to build an 'instance' that helps worthy causes around the world.
So, how do I measure progress? I think it's very much seeing what is developed and completed by the entire team. Lately, I am seeing completed items that are just getting to the final tests before going live. I think the better planned now, the better executed --then problems everyone will face in the coming months. That is what I hope.
LOOKING INTO the COMING MONTHS
The summer of 2006 is focused on marketing. All the work I am doing is about marketing. My goal is to get the representative base over about 10,000 by the end, when everyone returns back to school.
After that I will focus on the Investment part of the project, and that is beginning to look interesting.
Here are some of the trends that are taking place:
1> The stock market has risen, on and off, since 2003. Now it looks like a downward trend --but how long will that last? Just for the summer? OR will a bear market start? I don't know. The numbers will tell the story and interest rates will 'make or break' things in the coming months.
2> The real estate market has a top. But does that mean it will bottom out? I doubt it. Why? Two reasons. My predication is that the USA population will hit near 400,000,000 by the year 2050. Now I think it's around 320 million. This is about 10 mil more than the official figures, but I don't think most of the states know clearly how many people are living there. Where will all these people live? Where will all these people work?
Reason two: It is estimated that in the next 25 years, the amount of real estate projects around the USA will be over, in monetary value, what was built in the past 75 years. Does this sound like a slow down? I doubt it.
So, the trends will stay a friend. Now is the time to make many of the decisions and plans to take the next step in the investment objectives of my step building.
One sure thing: When things tend to be very tense is when "things grow". When things are "nice and snug" and feel safe is when the 'bottom falls' out. How do you feel?
Ok, this was a needed break. A breather 'til I finish off the traffic series. With that I close my day. Carpe Diem. Sam out.
