WordPress MultiUser:
If you want to do all the WP multiuser syste, the only solution is WORD PRESS MU. This hybrid software based on the WP code allows an ADMIN such as yourself to setup one installation and then proceed to allow anyone to setup their own blog.
The problems that you'll run into include the lack of help if there is a bug. As of this writing, not much is documented about the "MU" version. Furthermore, not all themes and widgets that work on WP work on WP-MU.
There are some solution to many of these issues at WP official site, including other versions that you might look at. You'll find all the wonderful writings and links to WP Multi User from this link. >>
The obvious advantage here is that with ONE INSTALLATION you can manage 2 or 2,000 blogs.
Blog Update Software:
Another method of maintaining multiple installations of WP is by setting up a BLOG UPDATE (Webclients) program such as BLOG DESK. These programs manage all the access information for the blog installation and when you want to update the blog, you can just enter the text into the update program and let it do the rest of the work.
This is a very easy way to:
-Send the same information to several WP installations.
-Send different content to multiple WP installations.
Many of the WP Update programs also have the capability to quickly format graphics when the update is done.
The types of software are called WEBCLIENTS and you can learn all about them via this link. >>
Blog Management Software:
This type of program is rather new and you'll have to be a bit careful decising on which one you'll want to purchase. I am using WORD PRESS ELITE from the below URL, but again, my setup may be very different that what you may do. Most of my setups are in a LOCAL network, where I do testing first. Only then do I proceed to setup all this online.
Furthermore, most of my work is on a testing server, as I am not allowed on our production/deployment environment by the 'gurus'.
What the management software will help you do is:
- Manage themes
- Manage pluggins
- Manage updates to the WP software. I highly recommend that you back up any database before you update using any software.
There are a few programs out there that can do the same job, and I am sure many more are on there way. Just search your favority engine for "manage multiple blogs software" and you'll fine a few. As I said, the program I use is called WORD PRESS ELITE and you can learn all about it's capabilities from this link. >>
Content Publishing System:
Lastly, all this brings me to the easy way to do all of this, and that is by inputting the information about your blog to our CONTENT PUBLISHING SYSTEM available from the Member area. Currently, the system is in BETA testing and will run fully by the end of June 2006. The benefits of the system is that you can get highly targeted content to your blog often, based on the categories that you have.
The system does not update any parts of WORD PRESS -- you cannot update themes or pluggins from the setup. Just the text that make up daily posts.
Look for the CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM in the Maxsimo.NET Member area.
Carpe Diem, Sam.
