Anyway, the objective for me is to:
ME: 225 Now -- 9-month goal: 210.
CIO: 258 Now --9-month goal: 210.
One thing that I forgot to mention here is that I am 6' 4" and he's 6' 3" and that makes for two big guys who sit around most of the day. This is not the way to get in shape. Both of our work routines hardly require taking more than 1,000 steps to get our work done daily. Often it is said that a normal human needs to take about 10,000 steps in a day to keep in good shape.
This requires a manual effort. In my case it is the same rounting that I started in 2005 --I just keep going and workout about 2 or 3 times a week. This year I'll do my best to make that 3 times a week.
Knowing our CIO, I also put some rules into the contest: I didn't want him to "slack off" for 7 or 8 months and then starve himself to lose the weight.
So, I put the following rules in place:
1> We must also be able to run 10k in a reasonable amount of time. In this case an hour is reasonable.
2> We need to be able to do 25 push-ups -- times 4 sets.
3> And 4 sets of 50 sit-ups.
4> Lastly, there will be two sets of 10 pull-ups.
These actions will make sure that we reach our goal. So, why a contest? Why all the additional actions? Why the importance of getting to this goal? Well, simple. Good health is wealth. It would be rather ridiculous of us to focus our efforts on the "accumulation of wealth" while forsaking our health.
And then there is another reason --our objective is to lease cars to celebrate the achievement. That will be after all of the above is reached. Indeed, a good target for the year.
Now to get my part done for good health --sleep. I am off. Good Day and weekend. Carpe Diem. Sam.

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'press on' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race. - Calvin Coolidge
