correct and security is where things should be. Although, I am handling much of the hardware setup at work, I am bringing in "experts" --the professionals to look into the network twice a month to make sure that we don't have a problem with pests. The last thing I want happening is a leak sending out credit card numbers by the batch file. Nor do I want a situation like the US Commerce Department experience a while back. As I recall reading they just got rid of every computer in their offices and brought new ones after a virus infiltrated their network. Not a bad idea when a "consulting contract" to remedy the problem might cost 10x the price of the hardware. Then again, that's a pure guess --as I have no clue to the way the govt. buys hardware.

Anyway, today is going 180 degrees in the opposing direction and I am getting things done. A lot of reading too.

I first read somewhere that NASA is switching to METRIC figures. I will too. Last week I talked about our 9-month contest between the S-CIO (company CIO) and myself in which we are taking on a workout routine. My aim was to trim 7 kilos. His was to shed 22! Anyway, all those weights and measures, I'll discuss in metric measures after today. What's good for NASA, is good for P31.

GETTING to VERSION 3.0 for ALL THE TOOLS and APPLICATIONS:

For several months we have know that in the horizon was the idea that all of our tools would be upgraded and an outside contractor, most likely from India would be brought into get products such as ROBO*banner, Content Publishing update, etc. running.

In order to do that, I first have to put the WHITE PAPER together. Then our CIO will put the technical details. Then the paper will go to India for the contractor to put together. The finished product is then installed on a test server and finally, passing all the tests brought into the live server. Well, that is the plan.

The problem is getting the WHITE PAPER done. I have so many things to do that I cannot allocate around 3 days to get it done. Then the solution? Do it a bit at a time. So, today I send the first email that begins a conversation on the START PAGE. I will discuss it for about 20 days with the CIO and then send it to production. I assume that around 10 emails will go back and forth with questions and answers.

Work goes on steadily as there are incremental upgrades to everything. And to myself. B>)
