DAY # 575: Branching Out
UPDATE:
Wednesday, 14-Feb-2007 9:50 AM
I've been doing some "evening work" on a few traffic building ideas. As you know much of my time on the blog is now suppose to be focused on investment discussions, but once again, I've had to put those ideas aside to focus on the traffic strategy.
That focus is now expanded to several other sites, which are at a certain point of development. All the sites revolve around the following ideas:
What are people searching for? Financial information, adult information, home business, building a business, etc. etc.

Legal Note: I am not a Financial Advisor, Lawyer or Accountant. If you are going to do this on your own
seek professional help when you need it. Through this site, my BLOG, I am simply sharing my
thoughts, goals, and showing what I am doing. Collectively "INFORMATION" that you can read to follow along. Otherwise, go here...

Going back to the adult idea, I am not building a "porn site" (even though that idea has crossed my mind on many occasions). I am not against most such sites, that don't violate an individuals rights --However, as a rule-of-thumb, I don't want to do something that I cannot discuss at the dinner table with my family sitting around.
That said, the sites focus on some of the major problems that people are looking to solve using the Internet.
I am also running several hundred Wordpress installation. One of them is at http://doublemypenny.blogspot.com/ >> The objective there is to see what happens when I use Googles own network to broadcast my ideas. We'll see... I'll write a review as the project progresses.
Another point that I have not made is the "upgrade" to Joomla (http://www.joomla.org >> ) to manage the sites that I talked about above. While Wordpress is nice to run a blog site and in my case a network of publication sites, there are several features that are missing when one wants to run a "full blown web site". What is lacking in Wordpress is found in Joomla. I've found out that Joomla is a full-blown CMS (content management system) that manages a blog, forum, directory and various other features using plug 'ins.
The other feature that I like very much about Joomla is the way the administration is handled -- there are various layers of it. There is a super admin down to users --several levels of administration for which I can eventually build a local ADMIN program.
Oh, yes, one item that I left out --Joomla handles pictures rather well. Handling pictures was something that I had trouble managing when I got Wordpress installed. I finally had to install another program called Gallery to make it work. By that time I had lost a lot of time. In the case of Joomla, it's all built into the easy installation right from the start.
And Joomla is FREE. Part of the open source community. Anyway, I'll do a more formal review about it soon. Now to work! Carpe Diem. Sam.
